Experience Matters
If you think that you may have hearing loss, please contact your doctor and ask for a referral for a hearing test. A hearing test is the first step to determining if you have hearing loss. If you are diagnosed with hearing loss, your next step is to talk with your audiologist about the options you have for care. There are a number of different types of aids and what kind you may need and want depends greatly on the extent of your hearing loss, your lifestyle, and your personal preferences. The costs of hearing aids also vary depending on your preferences. People often wonder about these costs. How can such a small thing costs so much? It’s partially because because today’s hearing aids offer the most advanced digital technology. They are in many ways a miniature computer that we customize to your needs. Yet another reason for the cost is because when you purchase a hearing aid through Constance Brown Hearing Centers, the price covers all follow-up visits for as long as the products warranty lasts. Typically that is about two years. That means that you can make an appointment whenever something goes wrong without the worry of out-of-pocket expense. That’s because we don’t want you to be “stuck” with something that you don’t use or can’t use - no we want you to have equipment that works well to help improve your life.

You probably get advertisements in the mail frequently. It seems like a new hearing care provider crops up everyday. How many have been around since 1942? Constance Brown Hearing Centers has served Southwest Michigan for nearly 70 years. That they have been around so long is not an accident. It is because of an enduring tradition of excellence and ethical operations that they have existed and continued to grow over the years. When you purchase hearing aids, you are making an investment. So why not make a smart choice an invest in a place where you can count on receiving service today, tomorrow and 10 years from now should you need repair or replacement?

We are committed to the highest ethical standards and as such all our care providers are audiologists. Why is this important? Audiologists have advanced schooling in the science of hearing care. In addition, all our audiologists are licensed. Why is this important? Licensure ensures basic consumer protection and provides a mechanism by which incompetent and/or unethical practitioners may be removed from practice. Yet an even higher standard of accountability is whether or not the hearing care provider maintains certification. Certification provides a different level of consumer protection by assuring that an individual has met rigorous and valid standards endorsed by a national professional body. And to maintain certification, among other things, our audiologists must adhere to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)’s Code of Ethics . Unfortunately there are many hearing care providers that do not adhere to such high standards. Without knowing it, you could easily have someone who knows little more than you do about hearing care, provide you with service and care. So remember to make sure and ask when you seek out hearing care if your provider is an audiologists and if he/she is licensed and certified. To read more about our audiologists click here.
