Diagnostic hearing evaluations to identify the degree and type of hearing loss, with medical or other professional consultation and referral, as indicated.

30-day evaluation with prescribed hearing aids to ensure satisfaction.

Assistance in developing cost-effective employee hearing-conservation programs.

On-site audiometric testing.

Educational Audiology

Providing assistance to hearing-impaired students in the Kalamazoo County schools: Classroom assessment, hearing aid checks, ear mold impressions and fittings, teacher consultation and in-service training.

Other Services

Assistive Devices Demonstration Center
Demonstrations of special devices - doorbells, alarm clocks, speech amplifiers, close-captioned television, telephone amplifiers and various listening devices - to help people determine whether the use of such devices will help them manage hearing-loss problems.

Screening Programs
Brief testing services to identify hearing problems.

Follow-up testing for infant hearing screening.

Informal Educational and Support Groups
Opportunities for people with serious communication problems to participate in self-help groups and special meetings and seminars.

Consultation
Assistance to other agencies, organization and professionals in understanding communication disorders and in meeting the needs of people who have hearing impairments.

Special Needs and Demonstration Projects
The Centers sometimes can help people with hearing problems by providing financial assistance for special projects not funded elsewhere in the community. The Centers also conduct or help other community organizations conduct innovative demonstration projects to improve the welfare of people with impaired hearing.

FREE Hearing Aid Cleaning Clinics

Constance Brown Hearing Centers offers FREE hearing aid CLEANING clinics on the first Monday of most months from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The 2008 schedule will be January 7, February 4, March 3, April 7, May 5, June 2, July 7, August 4, October 6, November 3 and December 1. (No clinic in September.) See our flyer or follow the Services link for more details.

Individuals may come in to have their hearing aid cleaned and inspected whether or not they are a patient of Constance Brown Hearing Centers. Constance Brown Hearing Centers has two locations: 1634 Gull Road in the Kalamazoo Medical Arts Building across from Borgess Medical Center or in the Oak Park Center at 4855 West Centre Avenue in Portage.

An audiologist will clean and inspect your hearing aid. The audiologist will advise you of anything further that you may need. If additional services are required, there will be a charge. Patients will be informed of any charges prior to the work being performed.

Do you Want MORE From YOUR Hearing Aids?

Adjusting to a new pair of hearing aids can take some time and patience. We encourage our patients to take our bi-monthly class for hearing aid users and their families to learn more about how you can get the most out of your hearing aids. The topics will range from understanding hearing loss to basic speech reading techniques.

An audiologist with CBHC will present classes on Wednesdays from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. at the Gull Road office.  2008 Class Schedule: March 5 and 12, May 7 and 14,  June 4 and 11, July 9 and 16, August 6 and 13, September 10 and 17, November 5 and 12.  See our flyer or follow the Services link for more details. Space is limited call today to register for a class, call 343-2601 or 877-343-2601 (toll-free). The class is $5 for patients of Constance Brown Hearing Centers and their guests, and $25 for the public.
